Our November outing takes in two local Museums.
RAF Benson has an interesting display covering the station’s important role during WW2 in reconnaissance through to the days of the Queen’s Flight and up to today’s ‘Heavy Lift’ helicopter squadrons. We will be welcomed by its curators, Mick P and Mick B.
We are also visiting the Aston Martin Heritage Trust (AHMT) in Drayton St Leonard. Again, the museum is not large but holds an interesting collection of vehicles and memorabilia.
We can only take a maximum of 30 members due to the limitations of both museums. We will split into two groups of 15 with each visiting one museum in the morning and the second after lunch.
Pick up from Wallingford Museum and Crowmarsh Church will be 9:30 and 9:35 respectively.
Lunch will be 1:00pm until 2pm at the Wandering Kitchen, near the AMHT. Options here will be to use their facilities for food & drinks (not included) or bring a pack lunch (outside).
After lunch, we reverse the two groups so that everyone sees these lovely local museums.
We would arrive back at Crowmarsh Church at 16.25 with last drop-off at the Wallingford Museum at approximately 16.30.
It is strictly 30 members on a first come basis unfortunately. Cost for outing is £31.50/person. This includes the driver’s tip.
As the visits are very near to each other, the coach will not have toilet facilities on board.
Lastly, as RAF Benson is a frontline working station, to speed entry, I will require a copy of identification beforehand that will be sent to RAF Benson security. Ideally, passport or drivers licence details. These will remain strictly confidential and will be destroyed after the visit.
