Mike Sedman, a member of the Outings team would like to apologise for the fact that there will be no outing in May.

"We were planning to ride on the Watercress line followed by a visit to Jane Austen’s house with a substitute being Gilbert White’s residence.  All these have had to be cancelled and many other enquires to other venues proved fruitless.  The problems have been at many destinations there are skeleton and furloughed staff and the uncertainty of whether they will be able to comply with Covid rules even if they can understand them. Communication has been very difficult.

Better things are bound to come.  The Isle of Wight trip in July is still on and Sue Wright is busy planning the visit to Ancient Butser farm in August.  We will our best to continue to organise one outing per month."

were arranged for members usually every month. They are organised at cost price, with transport, tickets & gratuities included. Ideas for future outings are welcomed from members.

A short four or five day holiday is included in the itinerary every year & previous destinations have included Northern Ireland, Tuscany, Madrid, Slovenia. This year was to be to Northumbria in June, now postponed to 2021.

Last year Oct 2019 to Sicily

Six days of the History of Western Sicily & Palermo. Highlights of the trip included the medieval town of Erice, the Norman Cathedral at Monreale, a tour of Palermo & a boat trip to the island of Mozia. An excellent time had by all.

In Sept 2018 to Romania

To Bucharest, a city of extremes, then to Transylvania in the Carpathians, an area of natural beauty & home to wonderful scenery, Dracula’s Castle (quite ‘sort of interesting’) and Peles Castle, a truly wonderful 19th century chateau filled with highly decorated rooms, set in the most picturesque setting.  A most enjoyable holiday with a happy group of members.

Our 2017 holiday to Lake Bled, Slovenia & Koblenz in the Rhineland

A group of 38 of our members had a memorable six day holiday based at Lake Bled.  There were many highlights including a visit to Postojna, one of the world’s largest cave systems & a wonderful day at Piran, a medieval town with a Venetian influence, a typical Mediterranean look &, on the day itself, a very Mediterranean climate.

Many more memorable holidays in the years before....
